From the product’s about page:

Rapportive shows you everything about your contacts right inside your inbox.

You can immediately see what people look like, where they’re based, and what they do. You can establish rapport by mentioning shared interests. You can grow your network by connecting on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and more. And you can record thoughts for later by leaving notes.

Imagine relationship management built into your email. For free.

You need Gmail and the Google Chrome browser for this.

Go to the installation page.

(The rest of this explanation, including the screenshots, is from the installation page.)

A warning bar should appear at the bottom left of Chrome. Click “Continue”.

Another box should appear. Click “Install”.

Finally, open a new Gmail tab. You should see “Rapportive” at the top.

Try looking at an email from somebody. You should see the Rapportive sidebar where the ads used to be.

If you prefer, you can install Rapportive directly from the Chrome Extensions Gallery.
