Live Writer: Composing A Post

Open Live Writer if it’s not yet open.

Click on New and then New Post:


Type a headline (subject) in the top field (where it says “Enter Title Here”) and then hit enter:


Type the text you want.

To insert a link, follow these steps:

  • Find the page you want to link to. Click on the address in the browser bar and the text should turn black:
  • Right click on the text and select copy:
  • Go back to Live Writer (Alt + Tab will move you through your open windows quickly)
  • Back in Live Writer, select the words or word you want to turn into a link using the mouse or keyboard:
  • Hit Control k or, from the menu, choose Insert and then Hyperlink
  • In the URL: box, right click and choose Paste:
  • When the link is pasted in, click on Insert:image
  • The text should now appear as a hyperlink:

When you’ve finished your post, click on the Publish button:


A window should appear like this. Make sure the View in browser after publishing box is selected:


Once the post is published, it will appear in your browser:
